A beautiful profession

I, myself, find plastic surgery a beautiful profession. First of all it is a skilled profession, with the final result being entirely visible. I am aware that my work is mercilessly assessed, but that is also the challenge.
In my practice, however, it is not only about skill. Good communication is as important. "The Exterior" is something which is a sensitive issue: it effects you as a person, your self-image and your self-confidence. For this reason it isn’t easy to discuss. As a plastic surgeon I like to create an environment in which a patient feels safe and respected. Thus, I myself can form a good idea of what the patient has in mind, and of course, if plastic surgery can satisfy those expectations.

My background

I trained at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam. Since 1995 I have worked as plastic a surgeon in the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft and the Diaconessenhuis in Voorburg. Since 2002 I am also linked to Clinic Zestienhoven in Rotterdam.
Together with colleagues, plastic surgeons Duco G. van den Broecke and Michiel C. Schuringa, we form a partnership.

What can you expect of me?

I outline an honest picture of what the treatment implies and what you can expect from it. Furthermore, I am a skilful, but careful surgeon: I don’t do crazy things and if I am unable to do something, then I will say so.
