You don’t have to be an aesthetic surgeon to differentiate between beautiful and less beautiful. As a matter of speaking the eyes of nearly everyone are razor-sharp - sharper than the knife of the aesthetic surgeon - and that is independent of social status or education.
However, tastes can differ strongly. It is influenced by fashion, recent developments and culture. A striking fact is that women in the United States find breast enlargement with silicone implants beautiful, only if the edges of the implants are well visible in the décolleté: a result that we, in the Netherlands, would find fake. It is possible that the disagreement of what beautiful breasts are, came about under the influence of icons such as Dolly Parton and Pamela Anderson. Until recently people in Brazil for example, loved small breasts. As a consequence, apart from Brazil there was no other country where so many breast reductions were performed. But in recent years, possibly as a result of globalization, the number of breast enlargements has strongly increased in that country. A great example of the influence of trends, fashion and pictures which blow over from other parts of the world.
